New Decade with my Seoul Mate (Part 2)
Our 2nd day started very early because we booked the Nami Island/ Garden of the Morning Calm / Gangchon Rail Bike guided toor via Klook to take us to the countryside of South Korea.

Our first stop was Ganchon Rail Park. The rail park was a unique attraction that allowed visitors to ride and pedal along an old railway track. The freezing gusts of wind were blowing strongly to our faces so make sure you wear the proper winter clothes when you want to experience the ride. As we rode along the track, we were surrounded by the breathtaking views of the countryside, with mountains and fields stretching out as far as the eye could see. You will also enter a tunnel with amazing and colorful lights. When you reach the final end of the track, visitors can stroll around and have some hot fish cakes while waiting for the tram that will transport you back to the main entrance. The experience was exhilarating and it made us feel like we were truly immersed in the Korean countryside.

Our next stop was Nami Island. They say it’s a lot better the second time around and I definitely agree. Visiting Nami again gave me and my hubby a new perspective of the place. Nami Island is just a very short ferry ride from Gapyeong Wharf. The place became famous as the filming location for the popular Korean drama, “Winter Sonata.” We couldn’t resist pretending to be Jun Sang Kang and Yoo Jin Jung as we explored the island taking pictures here and there and taking in and enjoying the fresh air. It was truly mesmerizing to see the giant meta-sequoia trees that lined the paths, their towering trunks and branches reaching up to the sky. The island was a peaceful and serene place, with the snow-covered landscape adding to its beauty. Don’t forget to try the grilled Nami Island sausages.

Last stop was the Garden of the Morning Calm, a botanical garden that we had visited with our kids in 2019. Since we had already explored much of the garden on our previous visit, we decided to take a leisurely stroll and take some snaps of the beautiful scenery. We were still amazed by the garden’s stunning collection of plants and flowers, and we were glad to have had the opportunity to see them again.
