Royalties in Gyeongbokgung Palace

Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul is one of the most iconic and historic landmarks of South Korea. And what better way to explore the grand palace than to wear Hanbok and feel that royal vibe. Hanbok is a traditional clothing of Korea, it is typically worn by Koreans during special occasions and celebrations. We rented our Hanboks via Klook (Bukchon Oneday Hanbok Rental Experience) which is good for four hours. And of course, such grand moment should be captured by a professional photographer so we booked Sweet Escape to do the honor.

As soon as we arrived at the palace, we were struck by the grandeur and beauty of the architecture. The palace is comprised of several buildings, including the main throne hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace Museum, and the National Folk Museum of Korea. We were particularly impressed by the intricate details of the buildings, such as the colorful patterns and designs on the roofs. Wearing hanbok made the experience even more special. The colorful and elegant traditional clothing added to the vibe of the palace and made us feel like royalties. Oh by the way, we were not the only ones dressed in hanbok, as many other visitors also chose to wear it, so don’t be shy and stroll around the palace showcase your chosen hanbok.

Sweet Escape photo services were the perfect addition to our visit. Henry Liaw,  the professional photographer assigned to us captured our family’s moments in stunning detail, making sure to highlight the sophisticated details of our hanbok and the beauty of the palace. The photos were made available to us for download within 48 hours, and we were thrilled with the outcome. You can book your Sweet Escape photo session via their app or website.

One of the highlights of our visit was witnessing the changing of the guards ceremony. The ceremony takes place at the palace’s main gate, Gwanghwamun, and features guards dressed in traditional Korean clothing and perform a series of lively movements and marches. The ceremony is a must-see for anyone visiting the palace, as it gives a glimpse into Korea’s rich history and culture.

Throughout our visit, we were amazed by the history and beauty of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Wearing hanbok and capturing our moments through Sweet Escape made the experience even more exceptional. We left the palace with a newfound appreciation for Korea’s rich history and colorful way of life. We highly recommend Gyeongbokgung Palace to anyone visiting Seoul, and we especially recommend wearing hanbok to fully immerse yourselves in the culture and history of South Korea.
