Day 2: Exploring Korean Culture and Cuisine

Our second day in Korea was dedicated to immersing ourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the country. We had planned a unique experience by booking a Hanbok rental through Klook (Bukchon Oneday Hanbok Rental Experience) a sweet escape pictorial at Gyeongbokgung Palace (I have made a separate post about our Hanbok Photoshoot experience in a different post, you can read it here). The anticipation was high as we couldn’t wait to capture stunning photos in this historical setting.

We arrived at the Hanbok rental shop and were greeted by a friendly staff who helped us choose the perfect traditional Korean attire. The array of vibrant colors and intricate designs made it a tough decision, but we finally settled on our outfits. The Hanbok not only made us feel like we had stepped back in time, but it also added a touch of elegance and authenticity to our photo shoot.

With our Hanboks on, we headed to Gyeongbokgung Palace, a grand and majestic landmark in Seoul. The palace’s ornate architecture, serene gardens, and beautiful pavilions created a picturesque backdrop for our sweet escape pictorial. Every corner of the palace seemed like a hidden gem, providing us with countless opportunities for memorable photographs.

During our time at the palace, we discovered another wonderful aspect of Korea: the presence of local tourist guide volunteers. These friendly individuals, fluent in English, offered their assistance to lost travelers like us. We approached one of them and were amazed by their knowledge and willingness to help. They not only guided us through the palace grounds but also provided valuable recommendations for our next destinations.

Taking their advice, we made our way to Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional neighborhood known for its well-preserved Korean houses. As we strolled through its narrow streets, we marveled at the beauty and authenticity of the hanoks (traditional houses). The village offered a glimpse into Korea’s past, allowing us to experience the country’s rich cultural heritage firsthand.

After a day filled with exploration and adventure, we decided to head back to our Airbnb for some much-needed rest. Luckily, our accommodation was conveniently located near small markets and restaurants. We ventured out to explore the local dining scene and were delighted by the wide variety of authentic Korean meals available. From delicious street food to traditional dishes, our taste buds were treated to a delightful culinary experience.

As we sat down for dinner, reflecting on the day’s experiences, we couldn’t help but appreciate the warm hospitality and assistance provided by the local tourist guide volunteers. Their presence made navigating through the city and discovering hidden gems much easier and more enjoyable.

Our second day in Korea was a perfect blend of cultural immersion, historical exploration, and gastronomic delights. The Hanbok rental and sweet escape pictorial at Gyeongbokgung Palace allowed us to create beautiful memories, while the guidance of the local volunteers and the authentic Korean meals added a special touch to our journey. We couldn’t wait to see what the rest of our trip had in store for us.
